                    eBay Classified Ads

What do you think?  Feel free to leave comments, ideas, or suggestions!

Did you know that eBay has a "classified ads" section?  Many people don't!  They're not openly advertised on the eBay site so many people don't know how to find them.

The eBay site has recently undergone many changes - one of them being that digital download items can no longer be sold in the regular auction or "Buy-It-Now" formats.  EBay has mandated that ALL digitally-transferred, "digital delivery" items (emailed items such as links to download templates, eBooks, patterns, compiled information, etc.) may now only be sold in the classified ads section.  As a result of this change, many eBay members have moved their digital goods over to the classifieds.

Please do not be intimidated by the "Classified Ad" format.  EBay classified ads are new (and somewhat of a mystery!) to many people.  For more information, see the eBay help page regarding this topic:  Classified Ads for Buyers

Where exactly ARE the eBay Classified Ads and HOW do I find them???

THAT is an excellent question!  When you go to the eBay site, you will not easily find the classified ads section!  Why eBay does not make them easier to find is a question I simply cannot answer, they are quite hidden!  Hopefully, this will soon change!

Follow the steps below to find the classified ads on the eBay site:

    1. On the left side of any search page (except "My eBay" or the eBay home page) look under "Narrow Your Results".
    2. Look under "Search Options".
    3. Look under "Show only".
    4. Place a check mark in the box next to "

    1. The customer browses the items for sale within the classified ad and decides which item(s) they want to purchase.
    2. The customer clicks on the "Email Seller" button (located near the top of the page where the Bid or BIN button would normally be found) and sends the seller a short note indicating the item(s) they wish to purchase.
    3. The seller sends the customer an invoice with the total amount due.
    4. Once the customer pays for the item(s), the seller emails the customer with download link for the item(s) purchased.

No feedback is exchanged with classified ad transactions and some have expressed concern over this.  Many "classified ad feedback" sites have recently started springing up on the Net where both classified ad sellers and buyers can go to leave feedback for one another.  If you do a Google search, you will find references and links to these sites.

The seller's feedback score is still displayed at the top of their classified ad - just as it would be with a regular auction listing.  Potential buyers can view the classified ad sellers' previous feedback score and consult one of the many off-eBay feedback sites to decide if the seller is trustworthy enough to purchase an item from without the eBay feedback "safety net".
